Q1 2025

Leaving a company and a 15 year track record to go out on my own wasn’t easy. I wrote about what led to the decision to make the move here.

This update is focused on what happened in the first quarter of 2025.

First, What is Pursuit Health?

I started this company to help organizations navigate healthcare and empower their employees to proactively use their benefits, not just when health issues arise.

Healthcare is complex, and many companies lack the in-house expertise to explore the best strategies. Options like ICHRA and PEO should be evaluated alongside small group insurance plans to find the right fit.

What’s going well?

Personal Network – I have been very surprised and truly appreciate the many connections, past colleagues and friends who have reached out to offer to help as I began the new venture. My first deal and several interested companies were direct referrals from my network. Thank you!!

LinkedIn – I spent the last 15 years lurking on LinkedIn and never really posted anything. Most of my personal network became aware of my new venture through my posts in Q1 and this post reached over 190,000 impressions. Several people reached out and introduced me to potential clients and new partnership opportunities. Huge thank you to anyone who likes or comments on my posts, it makes a big impact in the reach of each post.

Partnerships – When I announced the partnership with Truemed it was the biggest day of the quarter for my website. I’m especially excited about this partnership because I’ve admired the founders of Truemed for years. It also empowers employees to use their benefit dollars for root cause interventions that focus on prevention rather than waiting for chronic disease to develop. Check it out here as anyone can use their FSA/HSA in new ways.

Heading into Q2, this is an area I am excited about several new partnership opportunities. I have conversations started with several PEOs and insurance firms to solve the small business insurance needs they have for their groups.

What didn’t go great?

Cold Calls – Most of my career I found new business through cold calling. I began the quarter with a cold outreach plan and saw very little traction. I pivoted to cold outreach to companies currently on a PEO and again saw little traction.

I still believe I need to do cold outreach but I am no longer confined to a territory so when I pick this back up in Q3 I need to create a more focused approach.

For Q2 I am focused on driving more leads through personal referrals and partnerships and less on cold outreach. Although, if you have the Glengarry leads send them my way!

Timing – I found several groups who were interested in learning about ICHRA, but it will be best to wait till later in the year. Much of my work this year will be to build pipeline for go live on new models of insurance in January 2026.

Measurable Results:

Sales – 1 new signed client

Proposals – 3 companies evaluating options

LinkedIn Followers for Pursuit Health – 255

Total LinkedIn impressions – 200,576

Q2:

My family is spending Q2 in Spain so my work days will look different this quarter. I didn’t make this pivot for immediate results. I am focused on building this new career for the long term and it means taking advantage of the magic window of time I have to travel as a family while my boys are young.

If you know of a company that would like to work with me I would really appreciate the referral!
